The spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (SBP) is very grave complication in cirrhosis, and early diagnosis and treatment is crucial for good management. The results obtained were summarized as follow:
1) The incidences of abdominal pain, tenderness, and fever in SBP were 83% of cases.
2) The mean value of WBC and PMN in ascitic fluid were 3,587 cell/mm3 and 3,156 cell/mm3) Ascitic fluid culture was positive only 1 case for Klebsiella pneumoniae. 4) The management of SBP were Ampicillin+GM or cephalosporin+GM. In-hospital mortality was only 1 case (8%) and cause of death was sepsis.
